Vice President, Human Capital

Manage all aspects of Human Capital. Provide support in the achievement of strategic and operational goals of the Company, and to provide HC leadership and direction to the executive and management teams.

Responsibilities/Essential Job Duties

Define

Define, manage and lead the Human Capital department.

Design

Design, implement and maintain processes, policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook and other relevant procedural documents, as well as developing new policies and procedures as needed. Ensuring that all HR and HR-related policies and procedures comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Oversee

Oversee recruitment process including job descriptions, compliance, hiring, background checks, employment offers, new hire orientation and on-boarding. Oversee payroll and timekeeping issues. Oversee benefits and coordination with benefits broker. Work with brokers to choose insurance and benefits plans that best suit company needs and budgets. Oversee maintenance of all insurance and benefit plans. Oversee Company’s safety and training programs and committees. Oversee implementation of employee engagement reviews.

Identify

Identify and manage training and development needs, with appropriate department head, for all employees, including mandatory training.

Manage

Manage company compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations including San Francisco health care and sick leave ordinances. Manage all leave administration including, FMLA, PDL, etc. Manage workers compensation program and coordination of incident/accident reporting. Manage and implement corporate training (e.g., sexual harassment, use of forms and internal procedures).

Provide

Provide advice to management on the compliance and regulatory issues related to management initiatives.

Ensure

Work with department managers to ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures pertaining to employee relations programs including disciplinary issues, internal investigations and conflict resolution.

Respond

Respond to all inquiries regarding staffing, salaries, workers compensation, disability, unemployment, and health benefits.

Conduct

Conduct exit interview to determine reasons behind separations. Such other tasks or assignments as may be required by management.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of workers’ compensation, labor and employment laws and knowledge of current trends in human resources management
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with all staff in a professional, conferential and tactful manner
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of California, Federal Labor, Wage & Hour laws and record keeping
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with HRIS systems
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multifunctional teams

Credentials and Experience

  • College degree required
  • Minimum of ten years human resources management experience, preferably in California
  • Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
